Policy Forum 2018

In the framework of the Master of Advanced Studies ETH Mediation in Peace Processes (MAS ETH MPP), the programme’s strategic partners and ETH Zurich organised an event: “High-Level Policy Forum on Peace Mediation: The Future of Mediation in an Ever-Changing World”. The event took place in the Audi Max of the ETH Main Building (Rämistrasse 101, 8092 Zürich) from 17.00 to 19.30 on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.

The event consisted of a keynote speech by external page Swiss Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis and a panel discussion bringing together seasoned mediation experts. The panelists included the following:

• external page Amb. Thomas Greminger, former Secretary-General of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE)
  
• external page Mme Bineta Diop, Special Envoy of the African Union for Women, Peace and Security
  
• external page Ms. Karin Landgren, former UN Under-Secretary General, Executive Director of Security Council Report, Member of the Nordic Women Mediators Network
  
• external page Amb. Antti Turunen, former UN Representative and Co-Chair of the Geneva International Discussions (GID) for Georgia
  

The panel was moderated by Ms. Teresa Whitfield, Director of the Policy and Mediation Division of the UN Department of Political Affairs (UN DPA).
